Abstract

The study examines “Confirmation Bias and its Impact on the Emergence of Intellectual Doctrines,” highlighting why certain intellectual doctrines persist despite their evident methodological flaws. Can Confirmation Bias Serve as a Mechanism for the Reproduction of Intellectual Alignments? This study seeks to elucidate the impact of confirmation bias and cognitive bias on the emergence of intellectual doctrines by analyzing their mechanisms and determinants while examining their role in shaping doctrinal formations throughout history. To achieve this objective, the descriptive method was employed to delineate the concept of confirmation bias within intellectual discourse. In contrast, the analytical method was utilized to investigate its manifestations in the development of doctrinal thought. The findings indicate that confirmation bias is a fundamental factor in the consolidation of intellectual doctrines, as it reinforces cognitive dependency, fosters epistemic selectivity, and engenders a dismissal of critical perspectives that challenge preexisting beliefs. Furthermore, the study highlights how intellectual emulation of authoritative figures and reliance on limited sources of knowledge exacerbate the divide between ideological schools. In light of these conclusions, the study recommends fostering critical thinking, promoting acceptance of diverse intellectual perspectives, and developing educational frameworks to mitigate the influence of confirmation bias, thereby ensuring a more balanced and equitable intellectual environment.
